How To Get Started
How old do you need to be to try golf?
We hold lessons for children as young as 2 ½
What equipment do you need?
To begin with you need nothing! Just come along in some sturdy shoes or trainers and casual clothing and let us help you with the rest. As you progress we can lend you golf clubs to practice with and if and when you are ready help you purchase golf clubs that are right for you. You need only by one to start! We can also help you with shoes and accessories. We have a fully stocked golf shop, custom fit studio and will not be beaten on price.
Do you need Lessons? How long does it take to learn the basics?
Lessons are a vital part of the games on going improvement at any level but to be ready to face your first game on the golf course very much depends on your own expectation. Some golfers feel ready to have a go earlier than others. A package of 6 lessons will give you an initial introduction to all the basic skills and enable you to approach the game with confidence.
Do you need to be accompanied by an adult?
No, it is entirely a parent’s choice. All our coaches are CRB checked to an extended level and we have a series of stringent pro-active polices in place to protect all our customers.
How Much are Lessons?
Lessons start at £6 for a group clinic for pupils between the age of 2 ½ and 6 which lasts 45 minutes. Individual lessons start at £12.50 (children under 11) for half an hour one to one session.
How often are lessons available?
We offer individual lessons 7 days a week and have a variety of ongoing group sessions and coaching programmes at regular times throughout the week.

What is a handicap?
A Handicap is an exciting part of learning to play golf. It gives you a target score to aim for when completing a golf hole. For example ‘I am aiming to complete hole 1 in 6 shots’
As a junior you can begin to get a handicap when you can complete 6 to 9 holes of golf. You will be given a handicap score to start with of between 0 & 54. This is the score that is added to the official ‘Par’ of the course as you play your game. For example: the official ‘Par’ of Cuckfield Golf Course is: 66. When you have completed your game add up your score and take off your handicap allowance and this will tell you how well you have played the course.
e.g. ‘Tom went round in 96 he has a handicap of 30. He therefore played the course in PAR.’
As you develop you can improve your handicap and get lower….
e.g. Lucy went round the course in 85. She has a handicap of 20 and therefore played below par with a round of 65 beating the course!!
